Time to start hoarding

Reasons why the paranoid survivalist that lives in my brain thinks we should start digging a shelter in the crawlspace, and learn to drive a dune buggy:
  • melting Siberian permafrost
  • shrinking Greenland ice cap
  • shifting magnetic poles
  • faltering Gulf Stream
  • SUPERVOLCANO! SUPERVOLCANO! SUPERVOLCANO!
  • Elephant Rage
I've been watching too much Discovery channel.

In what-I'm-reading news :
  • finished: The Anubis Gates. Once again, Tim Powers rocks
  • started: Anansi Boys, by Neil Gaiman
  • ordered: House of Chains and Midnight Tides, by Steven Erikson.

And you forgot about all those people poking at badgers with spoons!

Did you read American Gods before tackling Anansi Boys? I didn't. But it doesn't realy matter - other than sharing a character, they have nothing in common. Have you procured a copy of On Stranger Tides yet? You really need to read that one - it's piratey-good.

And you forgot the most important reason we are all domed: the deterioration of the ozone layer protecting us from the deadly radiation of the sun. Have no fear, though. Conner MacLeod will construct a shield to save us all as soon as he wins the prize.
